Weatherization Assistance Program

Program Description

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides home weatherization assistance to improve the quality of life for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities and children by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. The Weatherization Assistance Program for each of the state's 46 counties is coordinated through eight community action agencies.

General Program Requirements

Under US Department of Energy guidelines, you are eligible to receive Weatherization assistance if your income is at or below the 200% poverty rate as determined by the criteria established by the Office of Management and Budget. Preference is given to:

  • People over 60 years of age
  • Families with one or more members with a disability
  • Families with children

All weatherization services are provided by local weatherization agencies, including the application process.

To apply for this program, contact the local Community Action Agency that serves the weatherization program in your county.

Appeals Process

If you feel you were treated unfairly or denied service(s), please notify the Community Action Agency in your county of residence to appeal and request a fair hearing. Your application will be properly reviewed to determine eligibility based on the required documents provided.
