Weatherization Assistance Program

Program Description

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides home weatherization assistance to improve the quality of life for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities and children by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. The Weatherization Assistance Program for each of the state's 46 counties is coordinated through ten community action agencies.

General Program Requirements

Under US Department of Energy guidelines, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization assistance if you receive Supplemental Security Income or Aid to Families with Dependent Children. Preference is given to:

  • People over 60 years of age
  • Families with one or more members with a disability
  • Families with children
